To me, functional ware is comfort.  It allows the potter and the owner to become connected through something personal.  It allows trust to occur.  Trust that I have made this well and I have taken the time to consider what will make my work special so your experience with it may be pleasant. My vessels hold everything from pasta to hot cocoa on a snowy day.
